Sinamay is made from banana palm yarn, an eco-friendly material native to the Philippines. Sinamay has been widely used in headwear, jewelry, and packaging for many years. It is a tough fiber that is 3 times stronger than cotton. Sinamay can be easily dyed and shaped to any desired color, which is why sinamay is so popular with milliners.

This fabric is unstiffened making it ideal for making soft hats and fascinators. It can also be used as trim and decoration.
For blocking, 2-3 layers are usually used. Use glue to stiffen the shape.
